Below are 5 reasons that will prove why enterprises should migrate to SharePoint 2016.

  • Cloud-ready (Hybrid): The entire IT ecosystem is moving to cloud. Hence looking at it, Microsoft also wanted to move their users on cloud by providing them combined benefits of on-premise and cloud. Though, SharePoint 2013 had few cloud capabilities, SharePoint 2016 is best option to leverage both.

  • Mobile-ready: SharePoint 2016 allows you to access the SharePoint server site on your mobile device with an improved user-friendly interface and easy access to links and tiles. SharePoint 2016 enables on-premise environment to be more flexible, agile and allow access to your content on-the-go.

  • MinRole management: MinRole management in SharePoint 2016 provides a seamless way for server management by enabling the farm managers to define specific server roles. This feature improves the performance of server by increasing the response time. This feature makes sure to install what is required in a better manner and the roles are compliant according to the server.

  • Large file support: SharePoint 2016 has increased the file storage capacity from 2GB to 10 GB. This feature has been introduced because most enterprises usually work with large files, videos, presentations etc. Microsoft has also added double search capability and list view threshold, a better version than before, which allows 500 million per search server application.

  • No support for 2007-2010: If you are still running SharePoint 2007 or SharePoint 2010 then Microsoft has stopped supporting these SharePoint version. Enterprises are looking for better collaboration tools to communicate effectively with their team and customers. Hence, the support for your SharePoint environment is vital. Microsoft is giving priority to newer version of SharePoint and therefore there will be no support provided for older versions.
