Amazon’s announcement that it will extend its cloud computing services –Amazon Web Services- to China with a limited preview early this year to begin with made a big splash in mid-December. However just hours before Amazon’s official announcement, Aliyun, China’s e-commerce king Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. Announced that it is ready to cut its prices by up to 35 percent. If this was not enough, hours later IBM entered the scene to announced that it is teaming up with a local partner in order to deliver high end smart cloud services to all the businesses and enterprise users in China. This certainly looks like a war has been declared in China’s overall small but potentially huge cloud computing sector.
