In the first week of March, I was on my usual business travels – one day in Frankfurt, Germany, meeting with one of our large healthcare & life sciences clients and the next in Den Haag, Holland, for another meeting. Business was of course discussed, but another common thread of discussion was the infamous COVID-19 or Coronavirus.
Coincidentally, towards the end of the week, I was at the headquarters of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Geneva. The same common thread continued along here as well. However, there was something different in the atmosphere here. And before you jump to conclude – Oh, they had THE bug! – let me stop you right there. The difference was in their approach towards the oncoming problem; in the way people’s energies were synced to fight the upcoming emergency. They were gearing up not just to face the problem, but to help the rest of the world tackle it too! It got me thinking – How can I help? On returning home, I called my childhood friend, Sameer Sawarkar, CEO of Neurosynaptic Communications (an e-Zest portfolio company).
Neurosynaptic has a fantastic platform called IAMOK. e-Zest invested in Neurosynaptic a few years ago, to be able to contribute and be part of an impactful product and company. With e-Zest’s portfolio, healthcare seemed like the perfect domain choice for e-Zest. I have had the good fortune of working closely with team Neurosynaptic since then.
Our discussion initially circled around resources and how they constrained us from being able to do anything meaningful in a short span of time. But the fire was lit, and we were not willing to give in yet. With our respective teams, we worked out what needed to be done. We followed briefings and guidelines given by organisations like WHO and looked at how countries were responding to the crisis. We had long discussions with population health experts who were helping countries handle the situation and spoke at length with them on what the need of the hour is and what might be required going forward. Thus, was born #ReMeDiScanकरोना! (#ReMeDiScanCorona)
