Appleās relationship with the more traditional computing vendors has always been a bit unsettled and no name is more traditional in that space than IBM. New paradigms call for new alliances however so perhaps we should not be surprised at the news of IBM and Apple joining hands to specifically address the Enterprise Mobility needs of organizations worldwide. There seems to be plenty to cheer about for both the players. Apple gets a foothold in the Enterprise - something that has eluded it so far and IBM gets a sniff of the phone and tablet business that it has been flirting with for an age now. The first big, blue, apple flavored fruits of the partnership are expected to be in the form of an IBM platform for iOS that will pass on enterprise level big data, analytics and cloud storage capabilities. There is also talk of some tailored solutions targeted at specific industries. All this plus the greater reach for Apple devices available through IBM and the extension of Apple Care service elements to IBM customers. It looks like the time has now come for Enterprise Mobility to become cool, not to forget blue.
