How is cloud computing improving asynchronous learning in schools?

Cloud computing is helping students to become cloud technicians. Master’s degree classes are available on the Internet via the asynchronous learning system. It enables learners from anywhere on the planet to interact with tutors in real time, exchange notes and share files. Also students are now able to attend demonstration sessions on how to handle technology through remote laboratories using advanced applications that can bring information in three dimensions. The virtualization app is one of the platform that is helping learners to get the practical side of the cloud from the comfort of their homes. They can toy around with technology so they can perfect it, while still learning.

Tech industry delivers report on government Big Data

Industry consortium TechAmerica Foundation delivers its report on what government is doing with Big Data, and what it should do going forward.

Recently, TechAmerica Foundation’s Federal Big Data Commission released its report, "Demystifying Big Data: A Practical Guide to Transforming the Business of Government." Basically it’s a report on what government is doing with Big Data, and what it should do going forward. The report also includes the definition of Big Data and its "business/mission" value; Big Data case studies; technology underpinnings; a suggested roadmap; and commentary on appropriate public policy. Some highlights from the report presents a table describing four major characteristics of Big Data. They include the usual “three Vs” (Volume, Velocity and Variety) as well as a fourth, Veracity, referring to data quality.

Mobile development and cloud adoption: A perfect fit

Short timelines has made mobile developers so much more likely to embrace the cloud than their counterparts who are engaged with typical enterprise development. There’s an inherent expectation that mobile applications will be released quickly and updated faster and with greater frequency than their enterprise brethren. This increased pressure on the mobile development team puts a great deal of pressure on them to offload or outsource as much development load as possible, and more often than not, that means turning to a cloud based provider to help with anything and everything, be it hosting the front end or the big-data management on the back end.

Leading market research firm finds the current reality of analytics in Canadian enterprises - sponsored by Ideaca

Ideaca, a Canadian based consulting firm that helps customers through a portfolio of management consulting, advisory, implementation and support services sponsored an IDC whitepaper. The results of the survey measured the maturity of BI in Canadian organizations across a number of attributes such as data quality and quantity, BI level of analysis and an internal view of BI. From this research, IDC Canada has developed a maturity model from the data in the study which provides insights into the current state of BI as it stands today. The white paper also provides new insights into the current state of Business Intelligence (BI) as it stands today.
