Google offers new app engine features to chase after Amazon's Cloud Computing dominance
A new storage solution and PHP support is the reason behind strengthening of Google. When talking about cloud infrastructure, nobody can beat AWS in empowering websites and applications like Netflix, Reddit and Dropbox. Though there are competitors such as Rackspace to Microsoft. One such player is Google, which over the past five years has been working to let developers tap into its massive data center infrastructure, first with App Engine, a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) for hosting web apps, and more recently with Compute Engine, a competitor to Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) that lets you pay Google to do your heavy computing.

Oracle updated its Oracle Business Intelligence Applications (OBIA)
Oracle’s BI applications has been updated and thereby Oracle introduced a new in-memory analytics application for indirect spend planning that is Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite. The new in-memory financial analytics capabilities will allow Oracle to offer its customers a rival solution to SAP’s HANA. Oracle Indirect Spend Planning will allow procurement teams to uncover areas of spend reduction, monitor and evaluate spend performance and improve future planning cycles, according to the firm. Oracle said that through combining what-if analysis and scenario modelling with historical data, users will be able to better predict.

Liferay reports another year of double-digit growth
The open source portal broadcasted an impressive year growth that included an increase in half of the revenue and continued expansion in its community and ecosystems. The company attributes its success to significant gains made through opportunities in the financial services, healthcare and government sectors around the world. The open source leader, whose revenue is mainly derived from sales of Liferay Portal Enterprise Edition (EE), its flagship product, saw healthy growth of existing client contracts and key wins in new projects.
