Gartner: Public cloud services to hit $131B by 2017

As per a new research by Gartner, the public cloud market till 2017 will increase by 18.5%. Within this broad category of public cloud service, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) by Amazon and OpenStack based cloud providers are the usual suspects that Gartner included. The public cloud IaaS, file and storage represents the fastest growing part of public cloud services, growing 42.4 percent in 2012 alone to $6.1 billion. With growth accelerating to 47.3 percent, it’s expected to hit $9 billion in 2013.

Business Intelligence spending fueled by rising Big Data demand: Gartner

In the earlier times, the main reasons on which business relied was intuition and experience for decision making but not that much on data analysis. BI spending trends indicate that the enterprise culture is changing to ‘governance by data’ from ‘governance by instinct’ as businesses realize how big data analytics can enable them to make the right decisions at the right time to enhance business value.

HTML5 Trumps Native as Top Choice for Cross-Platform Development

According to a new Global Developer Survey HTML5 scored the highest points. The new developer priorities in building apps, trends evolving in the Native vs. HTML5 debate, and preferences for existing and emerging mobile platforms. Survey results show HTML5 beating out Native SDKs as the preferred choice for developers across the board, regardless of company size. New HTML5-centric platforms Windows 8 and Chrome OS are capturing developer interest in 2013, while BlackBerry 10 and Tizen OS struggle to find favor.

Manage data with the SharePoint term store

When there are many documents and other important data that we want to put and organize in SharePoint there comes the concept of managed metadata and the Term Store. Managed metadata in SharePoint is a centralized approach to define terms and enterprise keywords that can be used as metadata for your documents (and other information). Terms (and term sets) are words (or groups of words) that you associate with metadata columns defined for your documents, restricting the values you can enter for a particular column. Enterprise keywords are words or phrases you add in a single column, but they aren't hierarchical like terms. You can create predefined keywords or enable users to enter their own.
