The preview launch of Microsoft SharePoint 2016 has left the enthusiasts very excited. The all new SharePoint 2016 has opened up new and exciting possibilities on the platform. As we speak, many enthusiasts are already figuring out ways to leverage the possibilities in the new avatar. While SharePoint 2016 offers a great number of new features, performance and technology improvements, I am specifically excited at the way Microsoft is looking at enterprise search.

Now, SharePoint in its full implementation, touches terabytes of documents, records millions of people-process-content interactions, interacts and ecosystem applications resulting in a large data footprint of interactions. People also continue to use the platform for information that is relevant, contextual and forward looking.

The improved search feature is now being powered by machine learning technologies. This means that enterprise search will become more of a discovery tool that identifies content proactively based on signal, information and analytics.

Two great features in SharePoint 2016 include Delve and Insights. Delve uses machine learning and artificial intelligence (powered by Office Graph) to display information that is most interesting and relevant to you through predictive search capabilities. Another great feature is Insights which utilizes the power of Bing search engine to bring relevant information from a variety of sources.

Microsoft SharePoint 2016 will offer improved ways for CXOs to drive productivity and deliver great experiences to their customers. I am enthusiastic about the seemingly endless possibilities SharePoint 2016 offers to enterprises.
